About The Lab

The Börgeson Laboratory is an engaged research team, working at the University of Aarhus and Sahlgrenska University Hospital. In addition, we are a part of the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular and Translational Medicine Wallenberg Center, which is a world-leading life science nation.

Our research is focused on the investigation of various aspects of cardiometabolic disease, with a special interest in inflammatory resolution. To address our hypotheses in a translational manner, we combine experimental studies with clinical basic research. This requires state-of-the art experimental and clinical facilities.

Steno Diabetes Center at Aarhus Universitetshospital is the site of our main laboratory. Steno covers a wide range of research areas and we apply a patient-centered approach to our research with a focus on prevention and treatment of diabetes and cardiometabolic disease. Much of our work relies on the use of human material, with bio-banking and ex vivo tissue cultures as central tools to our tranlsational approach.
